If you want to see Nittel from a completely different perspective – a panoramic view, so to speak – we recommend visiting our partner village of Machtum on the other side of the Moselle and walking the Auto-Pédestre hiking trail there. This pleasant trail takes us through the Machtum vineyards, along the Houfels ridge and through the enchanting forest directly below. The moderately difficult circular trail, which takes a good two hours to complete, is simply called Auto-Pédestre (or Autopédestre), which in Luxembourg is the name given to well-signposted hiking trails or circular routes that lead through scenic landscapes and often include historical and cultural sights. The trail is marked with a blue diamond on a white background and is signposted in both directions
